Technical Author – IT Operations
London- (x2 Days in Office)
£425 – £475pd

We are currently looking for dynamic individual to join our Change Practice as A Technical Author.
As a Technical Author, you will play a crucial role in translating complex information into clear and concise documentation about the current and future technological estate. You will ensure that Technology teams have the required level of technical detail for development and support the maturing of the organisation’s documentation library.
The role:
Create comprehensive and user-friendly technical documentation about the company’s technologies.
Conduct research by studying the estate and interviewing key stakeholders to learn how systems function and link to the wider estate.
Collaborate with subject matter experts and engineers to gather information and ensure accuracy of technical content, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness of technical documentation by adhering to established standards and guidelines.
Simplify complex technical concepts for a diverse audience, adapting writing style to meet the needs of different user levels.
Review and edit existing documentation for clarity, consistency, and adherence to industry standards.
Work closely with business analysts, product managers and developers to understand new features and functionalities, then translate that information into technical documentation.
Work close with cross functional CTG teams such as the EUC, M365, Service Operations (Level 1 & Level 2 Support), Networks, Storage & Compute, DBA, Solutions Delivery (Applications Development, Test & Support) & Security team, to gather input and feedback on documentation needs.
Conduct reviews and quality assurance checks to verify the accuracy, clarity, and usability of documentation.
Assist in the development and maintenance of internal documentation repositories, document templates and style guides.
Key Skills and Experience:
To succeed in this role you will need:
Relevant experience working as a technical author within IT Operations environment or similar.
A working knowledge of IT policies, processes, procedures, and work instructions formulation.
Proven work experience as a Technical Writer in an IT Operations environment or similar
Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple and concise language.
Excellent communication and collaborations skills with the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams.
Familiarity with IT infrastructure, systems administration, network operations and IT service management concepts (Good understanding of Windows, Unix, Linux, Networking, Virtualisation)
Proficiency in document authoring tools such as Microsoft Word, Visio, SharePoint.
Experience with version control systems and documentation management tools.
Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail.
Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable.
Excellent written skills in English.
Previous experience in the Insurance, Finance, or other regulated industry is desirable.
Familiarity of industry related regulations and standards such as SOX, DORA, GDPR, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, and Information Classification.
