We are now recruiting for a Risk Manager to act as Accountable Executive (AE) and lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a project to procure and implement a Risk and Audit system for the financial body. The aim of this project is to procure a service that can support the range of risk management and audit activities that are undertaken at the financial body, to implement and operationalize the new service, and complete the transfer of data from any existing platforms to the new one.
List the key responsibilities of this job:
Acting as AE for the project by providing day-to-day direction to the project team, including ensuring that the company’s delivery approach is being applied, putting the right controls and capabilities in place to deliver the required outcomes, and ensuring the project gets timely decisions and direction on costings & quality/performance priorities.
Reporting to the Project Sponsor, both through established governance mechanisms (e.g., Project Board meetings) and ad-hoc channels where escalation is required.
Collaborating with the Project Manager to shape Project Board agendas and present items where relevant.
Acting as the Lead SME for the project, which includes providing technical input on risk management methodologies, tools and processes throughout the design and delivery stages of the project.
Organising and providing leadership to the other R&CO Risk SME’s within the project team to maximise their role and contributions to the project.
Supporting a fair and open tender process by evaluating tender submissions in line with predetermined criteria and Procurement guidelines.
Building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues within the project team, and across R&CO and the company, while working under pressure.
Required role-specific know-how, skills and behaviours
Strong experience in implementing and sourcing risk management system
Good experience in delivering projects end to end (including managing project timelines etc) and the ability to work in a changing environment, including delivering at pace to tight deadlines.
Extremely strong interpersonal skills with evidence of team working, confidence, and credibility.
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work; able to use own initiative to identify potential issues and suggest solutions. A flexible approach to the way you work and what you work on, well-organized, and able to work on several different tasks at the same time.
Excellent written and oral communications skills, including the ability to communicate confidently and credibly with colleagues, senior management, and subject matter experts.
Ability to interpret complex policies, procedures, and regulations to enable the development of user-friendly guidelines that encourage risk management practices.
Ability to quickly assimilate and analyze detailed information to form prioritized judgments and identify potential risks. Excellent Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
Experience of internal governance mechanisms, reporting procedures, and record-keeping.
