Purpose of Job

The Principal, Automation Delivery Manager will co-ordinate and oversee the activity of internal resources, contractors and various other third parties to provide process discovery, development and maintenance and support services for the Bank’s automation initiatives delivered through the Automation Practice.

This key role will work closely with all aspects of Automation design and implementation, such as feasibility assessments, analysis and design, service delivery, interactions with architecture, quality assurance, infrastructure operations and PMO. The incumbent will be required to engage with many stakeholders and users across the Bank, which includes but is not limited to, Banking, Treasury, Risk, Controllers, Audit, Corporate services, and IT Infrastructure. The incumbent will work closely with change management organisation. Additionally, they are also responsible for ensuring the Bank adheres to its defined IT Governance model, which includes but is not limited to, Internal Controls, Risk Management, Financial Management, Capacity Planning, Supply & Demand Management and Project Governance, as well as governance of the Automation Practice.

Accountabilities & Responsibilties
Software Delivery – Support, Maintenance and Development of the automation applications (RPA, OCR, ML etc.)
Working to the direction of Automation Practice governance structure and under the supervision of the Practice Lead provide leadership for the development, maintenance and support for the Bank’s key applications
Manage supply and demand so that future demand can be managed in line with expectations
Work closely with the Product Owners/ automation managers and SME within the business to identify business cases, or track its realisation, as well as understand business change (e.g. changes in practices as business on-board digital workforce members)
Organise stakeholder workshops, show and tells, demoes, identify and quantify processes
Work closely with Business Analysts or otherwise lead analysis effort for new or existing features
Work closely with architecture to identify suitable technology for each initiative (Ui Path, Power Automate)
Responsible for the creation of a ‘best in class’ support, maintenance and development practice, using modern Agile principles and practices
Responsible for end to end support, maintenance and delivery following the best in class Agile principles and adherence to ITSM practices
Responsible for transforming the internal delivery group to becoming a metrics based, lean start-up organisation, working closely with the business to establish shared ownership
Defining success criteria, maintaining a common view of the backlog, planning effectively and maintaining a view of the timeline for each delivery
Working with the Head of QA to ensure effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the Support and Development
Maintain a common view of current backlog, plan effectively, define acceptance criteria, estimate and track velocity
Maintain the code repository, peer review and version automation code base (e.g. maintenance of component library)
IT Standards, Risk, Control & Governance
Contributes to the creation of IT Policies and Standards and is responsible for ensuring standards are applied and adhered to at all times
Managing risks to successful outcome through the IT Risk management framework
Responsible for improving the IT general control landscape, including the design of preventative controls and automation to eradicate the need for heavily manual detective controls
Define Service Design and Service Transition in accordance with EBRD Acceptance Into Service protocols
Third Party Management
Lead and manage the team in a hybrid staff/outsourced organisational structure
Manage third party contributions to develop within Agile principles and ensure all parties activities are coordinated via the appropriate Agile approach e.g. Kanban, Scrum, SAFe
Financial Monitoring, Performance Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Plan, forecast and manage within a set budget
Responsible for identifying and implementing modernisation and efficiency opportunities in the heritage ecosystem through continuous improvement opportunities and automation
Set the direction and create an activity-based approach to delivering value to the business through the implementation and maintenance of lean Agile reporting and data capture
Report on the progress and delivery cadence of the team; burnup, burn down, velocity, quality etc.
Create a culture where technical debt is ruthlessly eliminated, generating backlogs for prioritisation and business cases for delivery where appropriate
Other
Identify training requirements relevant Business and IT stakeholders, in what concerns acquisition of automation skills
Contribute towards knowledge articles and capture best practice
Coach, mentor and direct your team in the delivery of good Agile delivery practices
Create a culture such that all team members are responsible for quality in all they do. Put our users first, identify and deliver continuous improvement through retrospectives etc.
Guide, support and educate the Product Owner and key stakeholders of the value of Scrum and Agile principles, especially with respect to refining and managing the product backlog
Champion and role model the Bank’s Behavioural Competencies and Corporate Behaviours, ensuring adherence within the team(s) so that the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct are exhibited at all times
Automation Practice

To support the requirements of Tech 2025, this role requires the individual to have a well-established background in many different disciplines within the support, maintenance and development of applications. This experience will cover working with automation initiatives, such as Infrastructure desired state configuration, RPA, OCR and others. The experience will include establishing and working as part of Centres of Excellence for automation or robotics and close work with the business to implement automation initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Extensive experience in overseeing or setting up delivery teams or automation practices
• Agile practitioner certification is desirable
• Experience of Automation tools such as Power Automate, UIPath, Powershell, Terraform Ansible or Puppet
• Understanding how Business objectives can be transformed into Technical solutions that fit within Risk, budget and operational criteria and constraints
• Experience of managing dispersed teams
• Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
• The ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst their peers in IT and key stakeholders within the business service in which they operate.
• Good understanding of the acquisition and management of third party providers.
• The ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
• Must have exceptional communication, organisation, and time management skills.
• Strong experience of infrastructure automation / software development estimating and capacity planning.
