Mainframe DBA
We’re a forward-thinking company looking for an experienced Mainframe Database Administrator to join our dedicated DB mainframe team. Our mission is to maintain the integrity of our legacy systems while leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Oversee backup and recovery processes using advanced tools.
Ensure data resilience and continuity in case of system failures.
Utilize expertise in logical and physical database design to optimize performance.
Troubleshoot database performance issues and implement query tuning concepts.
Perform data management tasks, including loading/unloading, updating, and removing data.
Maintain data accuracy and integrity as a reliable data source.
Monitor and manage database space, purging obsolete data, and reclaiming resources.
Implement archiving and purging strategies for large application tables.
Identify and troubleshoot database issues with high priority, ensuring minimal downtime.
Monitor database backups and maintenance jobs, resolving any failures promptly.
Monitor databases for unusual activities and restrictive states, proactively addressing issues.
Regularly check logs for any signs of anomalies or errors.
Provide support to development teams on day-to-day issues such as bind problems and resource unavailability.

Requirements:

Proficiency in z/OS operating system and related utilities and tools (TSO, SDSF, JES2, DFSMS, USS).
Expertise in operating system performance tuning and monitoring.
Familiarity with z/OS backup and recovery scenarios, particularly with the DFHSM subsystem.
5+ years of mainframe DBA experience.
Proficiency in TSO/ISPF for efficient navigation in the mainframe environment.
Strong skills in JCL coding for scripting solutions.
Solid understanding of COBOL-DB2 programming and debugging.
Familiarity with basic IBM Utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, REORG, RUNSTATS, etc.).
Knowledge of DB2 Tools, including CA Platinum tools and Data Propagator, to streamline operations.
