Our investment banking client has been present in the UK for more than 150 years, they’re a long-term partner to British business. Today, the Group is formed of 10 divisions and employs 9,300 staff based in 21 core locations right across the country. On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Lead UX Designer for a 6 month rolling contract based in London, UK.
Purpose of the Role:

Our client, a major investment bank, are seeking a highly skilled Lead UX Designer to lead a new initiative from end to end within a small team in London.
You will design and implement a new in-house trade surveillance platform from the ground up. The platform will monitor all communication channels in a major investment bank including email, phone calls and video calls. It will flag and present potential issues to a compliance officer for review. Your role will be to lead the E2E design and implementation of this brand new in-house platform with a significant amount of stakeholder engagement and design workshops.
This is expected to be a very engaging and high-profile project in a growing field of work within investment banking.
Responsibilities of the role:
Leading the design and development of a new graphical interface and front-end design for this greenfield project for our investment banking client.
Communicating strongly with stakeholders and conduct workshops.
Collaborating closely with the technology team to ensure seamless integration of design and functionality.
Holding strong analytic and communication skills.
Ensuring the platform provides an intuitive and user-friendly experience for all users.
What we require from the candidate:
We are looking for someone who can independently lead the design process from start to finish, while effectively engaging with both users and stakeholders.
Experience in designing complex enterprise applications, with a track record of leading end-to-end design processes. Experience in surveillance systems or financial services is a plus, but not required.
Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough user research, including observations, interviews, and workshops. You should be skilled in identifying user needs, pain points, and behavioural patterns.
Ability to articulate design decisions clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally. You should be comfortable leading workshops, presenting to stakeholders, and facilitating discussions to reach a common understanding.
Willingness to work with Adobe or Azure design tools is desirable, as these are integral to the current workflow. Flexibility with other tools is valued.
Prior experience designing for enterprise-level applications is essential. We are looking for someone who has dealt with complex user requirements and has delivered robust, scalable design solutions.
You will be expected to drive the design process independently. You should be comfortable taking the lead, making decisions, and managing the project from concept to completion. You will be supported by internal resources when required.
A strong portfolio that demonstrates your design thinking, process, and the ability to lead projects from start to finish. If your work is under NDA, we are open to reviewing sketches or other materials that showcase your approach and expertise.
