Cronos Europa – Senior Database Administrator / Cloud Migration Expert
We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator / Cloud Migration Expert to support a large-scale IT transformation project involving the migration of critical data platforms from an existing cloud environment to a new cloud provider.
The mission focuses on the migration of Oracle-based databases to PostgreSQL, within a complex, high-availability and high-security environment handling large volumes of legal and structured data.
This position is an on-site contract.
As a database and Cloud expert, you will be responsible for
Migrating cloud-based Oracle databases (RDS) to PostgreSQL cloud environments
Designing and executing database migration strategies, including data transfer, synchronization, and validation
Removing Oracle Spatial and adapting database models accordingly
Ensuring data integrity, security, performance, and availability throughout and after the migration
Defining and maintaining backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
Monitoring and optimizing database performance, scalability, and high availability
Providing expert-level support for database-related technical issues
Collaborating closely with application, infrastructure, and data migration teams
Producing and maintaining technical documentation (specifications, procedures, architecture)
Contributing to other related IT systems as needed
Technical environment:
Databases: Oracle, Oracle Spatial, PostgreSQL
Cloud platforms & services: AWS (RDS) and equivalent cloud environments
Operating systems: Linux
Languages & scripting: SQL, Python
Containerization & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes
Networking: TCP/IP, load balancers, proxy servers
Methodologies: Agile (Scrum, Kanban)
Profile
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Minimum 7 years of professional IT experience
At least 5 years as a Database Administrator, with strong exposure to cloud environments
5+ years of experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL
Proven experience in cloud database migration projects
Strong background in database design and data modeling
Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum or Kanban)
Strong expertise in database administration, performance tuning, security, backup & recovery
Fluent English required (minimum C1 level)
